Treatment

Cryolipolysis

Cryolipolysis is a non-invasive cosmetic treatment that uses freezing temperatures to reduce localized fat deposits on various parts of the body, such as the abdomen, thighs, arms, back and chin.

During a cryolipolysis procedure, the patient will typically lie down and the healthcare provider will apply a gel pad and applicator to the targeted area. The applicator will deliver controlled cooling to the fat cells beneath the skin, which will freeze them and cause them to undergo apoptosis (cell death). The cooling temperature is carefully monitored and controlled to avoid damage to the surrounding tissue.

The procedure typically takes between 35-60 minutes per treated area, depending on the size of the area being treated. Some providers may use more than one applicator to treat multiple areas simultaneously.

After the treatment, the healthcare provider will remove the applicator and massage the treated area to help break up the frozen fat cells and improve circulation. Patients can typically return to their normal activities immediately after the procedure, as there is no downtime required.

Over time, the body’s natural metabolic processes will eliminate the dead fat cells from the body, resulting in a reduction of fat in the treated area. 2 to 3 sessions at 4 to 8 week intervals may be required. The full results of the treatment may take several weeks or months to become apparent.

It is important to note that cryolipolysis is not a weight loss procedure and is not a substitute for a healthy diet and exercise. It is intended to reduce localized areas of stubborn fat that are resistant to diet and exercise. Patients should discuss their goals and expectations with their healthcare provider to determine if cryolipolysis is the right treatment option for them.

What to expect after treatment

If you experience any severe or persistent side effects, contact your healthcare provider immediately. Additionally, it is important to maintain a healthy lifestyle, including a balanced diet and regular exercise, to maximize the results of the treatment.

Side effects

  6. Paradoxical adipose hyperplasia: In rare cases, some patients may experience a paradoxical increase in fat cells in the treated area, which can result in a more prominent bulge.

It is essential to discuss the potential side effects with your healthcare provider before undergoing cryolipolysis treatment to determine if it is the right treatment option for you. If you experience any severe or persistent side effects, contact your healthcare provider immediately.
